Mattel, Inc. has the Warner Bros. license to make Harry Potter action figures. These characters were placed on the market in October 2001. They were first previewed at the American International Toy Fair in February 2001.
There were 13 action figures, as well as play sets, released for The Sorcerer's Stone. Mattel's suggested retail is $9.99 each. Each human character will come with accessories, such as wands and pets, a Casting Stone and a wizard trick. The Casting Stones can be used with the game of the same name shown further below.
The action figures, like most for movie characters, somewhat the actors who portray them. The Draco looks like a smug little Tom Felton. Harry bears a little resemblance to Daniel Radcliffe. Snape really looks like Alan Rickman.

The Lord Voldemort action figure is considered rare. One Web site claimed there is only one Voldemort out of every 100 figures packed into Mattel shipping cartons. I have seen You-Know-Who for sale online for as much as $75. This is interesting, as this is just the Quirrell figure with his head twisted around. (The Quirrell figure's turban hides the Voldemort face on the back of his head.) Compared to the novel, he also is inaccurate -- Voldemort had white, not green skin. The MOVIE Voldemort was correctly colored white. |
