Götz (or "Goetz") Puppenmanufaktur ("Doll Manufacturer") was founded by Marianne and Franz Götz in Rödental, Germany, in 1957. Today, Götz produces high-end vinyl and bisque porcelain dolls for collectors around the world, including North America. Most of the buyers are probably adults, as in the US they can cost $200-$400.
Götz's license for Harry Potter dolls was for distribution in Europe only. The dolls are hand-painted, are 11 to 13 inches high and wear hand-tailored outfits with Hogwarts robes and props appropriate to their characters. The company e-mailed me that the dolls are made of "high quality" vinyl. Sounds funny, but some plastic collector's dolls can cost several hundred dollars. These dolls on United Kingdom sites were usually £99.99 ($142 US). Though not sold in the US, American collectors could contact a UK shop online and have them shipped from overseas.
