There will be many costumes of wizards and of witches (not the old Halloween hag types) and nerdy black glasses on the market for Halloween 2001, but only a handful are the legitimate, licensed Harry Potter ones.
Two companies, Rubie's Costume Co., Inc., of New Hyde Park, New York, and Elope, Inc., of Colorado Springs, Colorado, created the "real" Harry stuff. Rubie's made full costumes, masks, eyeglasses, wigs and props. Elope ("Everybody's Laughing on Planet Earth") crafted puppet hats and distinctive glasses worn by major characters. Costumes hit the market in July and August 2001.
