It's filming time for Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, the second title in the saga of our favorite boy wizard. This movie will be released 15 November 2002.
The Harry Potter Galleries received the first two images (below) from a British reader of The Daily Guardian. They are from the October 2001 filming of the Aragog adventure/peril. They're kind of grainy, but they give us a preview of the sequel that will be the second biggest HP thing of 2002 (the first will be the publication of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix).
Peter Mountain, who shot all the official movie stills for The Sorcerer's Stone, again is handling this job on The Chamber of Secrets.
Ron and Harry, lantern in hand, are in the Forbidden Forest. They appear to have taken Hagrid's advice to follow the trail of spiders. Of course, they don't know there's an acromantula at the end of this trail.
Here is the first shot ever of Mr. Weasley's enchanted car, which has remained faithful to the book by being a turquoise Ford Anglia. This wild auto has stopped at Hagrid's hut, so maybe it has brought Ron and Harry back from the Aragog scare.
Another picture of Harry in the forest with Fang, again played by a Neapolitan mastiff. The mysterious person in the lower left corner looks like a crew member and possibly the edge of movie equipment.
Here is a still that originally appeared on Dark Horizons of Australia. What scene this picture is from is not known, but Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) has his wand out while Ron (Rupert Grint) looks somewhat worried. There's a carved lion statue next to them -- is this in or by Gryffindor?
Young witches looking for a heartthrob, here he is -- Professor Gilderoy Lockhart. This is the first official still of Kenneth Branagh as the arrogant fake monster stalker with the 1,000-watt smile. Just don't hire him to hunt basilisks or catch pixies.
Harry's face reflects amazement and shock as he reads that dangerous diary from the hands of Tom Riddle, Mr. Young Voldemort. Photo originally sent to the Leaky Cauldron.
Back in the director's chair is Chris Columbus. Here he coaches Daniel Radcliffe in a scene at Leavesden Studios near London.
