-Commish- League Ruling
The league has decided that no suspension will be given but a fine will be slapped against the team and Smirov for the hit on Nazorov last week. During the game vs. the Atlanta Thrashers Nazorov was in the corner digging for the puck when Alexei Smirnov hit him from behind. GM Bill Lennox was out raged with the call of a minor and game. As a result Nazorov has been out for the past 2 games and is not expected back until later next week. GM Trevor Sharpe was quoted in saying “That poor call very well could have cost us the game. To a team like Tampa losing a Nazarov is nothing, but to our club Smirnov makes all the difference in the world. This has happened to us on several occasions this year and we're plain fed up. League officials are making it hard to garner a strong attendance in this city, and if things do not shape up I'll be forced to relocate." As result of his comments the league has fined him $10,000 dollars and Smirov will receive $15,000 for the hit. The Thrasher have had a rough time of late going 4-6 in there last time trying hard to push for the last playoff position but seating 8 points out. Meanwhile the Lightening are in the same boat going 6-3-1 and only 2 points out.
