The Borrs of Michigan:

The Chronicle of an Immigrant Family through Five Generations

America is an immigrant nation. Everyone who is living on this continent today is descended from someone who came from somewhere else, whether it is the first immigrants who walked across the bed of what is now the Bering Sea, or the later immigrants who came by sea and air from all the other parts of the world. Ultimately, everyone came from somewhere else. There are no true native Americans.

This is the story of two fairly recent immigrants who came from the Netherlands in the middle of the nineteenth century, met, married, built a home, and raised a family, and the story of all their descendents, in so far as they can be traced, up to the 150th anniversary of their marriage. As such, it is the story of just one family but, as you will see, it is also the story of America.
