................Dave's Valiant 360.............

Hello! I am Dave from Harper Woods, Michigan. Let me show you my 1968 Plymouth Valiant 360. It is a former "grandpa's" slant six three on the tree car. I bought it with only 68,000 southern miles on it. I sold my 68 Coronet to get this sedan. I have always had a soft spot in my heart for those boxy, ridgid cars. Just perfect for my plans to go RACING!!

Here is a description of the engine for the Valiant... '79 360 block, bored .030 over with plate, align bored, decked, everything squared ... completeblueprint, that is everything machined to exact tolorences, for the componentsto be installed. Crank & rods gone through using all the good tricks... i.e. shot peened, polished, balanced, etc... Precision job by Hensley Racing, of Knoxville, TN... some of the parts used : Ross light weight 10:1 pistons, file fit Moly rings, ARP hardware through out the engine, Melling oil pump,Milodon drive shaft, Milodon low profile oil pan, Michigan bearings, Fel-Progaskets, ect... The camshaft is a Mopar Perf. #655 grind. It has a durationof 296, with a .557 lift at the valve. Overlap is 76 deg. Timing chain & gears are the much proven Cloyes double roller... Rocker arms are Crane 1.5 Alum. Rollers, w/ hardened chrome-moly shafts. Valve springsare Mopar Perf. # 542's, which are dual springs w/ dampers. Crane moly pushrods round out the short block. The heads are late model 360's, # 596castings, that have been pocket ported, milled, bronze guides, & teflon seals... Valves are Stainless Steel w/ 2.02 int. &1.60 exh. Ignition will be a Mopar Perf. Electronic distributor, w/ MSD components. Carb is undecided at this time. It will be a 4150 Holley, or I'm considering a Barry Grant Silver Claw. CFM will be about 800. Header brand is undecided, either Hooker,Hedman, or CPPA step. Fuel will be supplied by 2 Holley 110 gph "blue pumps", 1 for the engine, and 1 dedicated to the Nitrous system. I'm looking at a NOS Cheater system, or possibly contacting O'Malley Racing to assemble a system. Either way, I'm looking at no less than a 150 hp shot, probably a 200 hp shot, through a single stage plate system. I've run several computer programs onthis Engine/Chassis combo. They are all close. Bottom line, on the bottle, this thing will go at least mid 10's, and on it's own, I'm looking for11.50's-11.70's... I've backed this up by looking at real time similar combos. The horse power is there. I am already looking ahead to possiblechanges in cam & heads. Choice would be W-2 heads (cast iron), with anUltraDyne tight lash cam in the area of 265 dur. @.050 w/ a lift at valve of approx. .600-.650".

Now here are more pics of my project Valiant360, and some pictures of my friends and their cars. Thanks for stopping by, Dave
