Vince buys his dad's Capitol Wrestling & creates the World Wrestling Federation.
Jan: Steve Austin wins the Royal Rumble, last eliminating The Rock, to earn a World title shot vs Shawn Michaels at WrestleMania 14.
March 29: Steve Austin beats Shawn Michaels for the WWF title with guest referee Mike Tyson, who was on Austin's side the whole time.
April 26: At Backlash, Dude Love, Vince's first "Corporate Champion" beat WWF Champ Steve Austin by DQ. After the match, Austin nails McMahon in the head w/a chair, causing McMahon to be taken out on a stretcher.
Sept. 28: At a live RAW in Detroit (which I attended), Mr. McMahon & associates throw a party to celebrate "Stone Cold" Steve Austin losing the WWF title. After a misunderstanding with Kane & the Undertaker, Vince flicks them off & is beaten, injuring his ankle.
Oct. 18: At WWF Judgement Day, "Stone Cold" acts as the guest refereee in the match between the Undertaker & Kane for the vacant WWF title. Austin ends up hitting Stone Cold Stunners on both men & declares himself the winner. But Mr. McMahon lived up to his promise, saying "Screw you, Austin...you're fired!" Have I ever mentioned that McMahon kicks ass? Maybe I should make a fan page for him or something... Oct. 19: On a live RAW, as McMahon gloats in the ring, Austin is seen on the TitanTron drinking beer outside the arena. What follows is a Scream-like hunting of McMahon by Austin throughout the live broadcast. As McMahon tries to exit to his limo in his custom wheelchair, Austin kidnapps McMahon & makes a bet for the Undertaker-Kane Casket match. If Kane wins, Austin lets McMahon go. If the Undertaker wins, McMahon gets his. When the match ends in a no-contest, Austin determines that McMahon lost the bet & takes him to the ring. With a "gun" to McMahon's head, Austin pulls the trigger, only to have a "BANG!" sign pop out. Austin pulls McMahon to his feet, showing that McMahon wet his pants & delivered a Stunner. Pretty entertaining...for Austin. Oct. 20: Shane McMahon reinstates Steve Austin to the WWF, although we know he was actually still with his father at the time. Later on, Shane is demoted to referee status. Nov. 15: The Rock wins the vacant WWF World in a one-night tournament constructed by Mr. McMahon. Nov. 16 The day after the Survivor Series, Vince forms the Corporation around the new Corporate champion, The Rock. Throughout its existance, it includes Shane McMahon, the Stooges (Patterson, Brisco & Commissioner Slaughter) Shawn Michaels, Ken Shamrock, Big Bossman, Paul Wight, Test, Triple H & Chyna. The show also features Steve Austin's "final" shot at the WWF title (as ordered by Mills Lane, "America's Judge"), which ends in a DQ when the Undertaker nails Austin w/a shovel. Nov. 17: Commission Slaughter steps down & is replaced by retired wrestler Shawn Michaels. He has power over any WWF wrestler except Steve Austin, who Vince decides to keep for himself. Although appearing to be against McMahon, he helps The Rock beat X-Pac later that night & joins the Corporation. Dec. 13: Steve Austin battles the Undertaker in a "Buried Alive" match at Rock Bottom. If Austin wins (which he does), he is allowed to be in the Royal Rumble. Otherwise, his chances at the WWF title are slim to none. In other events, the New Age Outlaws defend the Tag Team titles against Ken Shamrock & the Big Bossman & Mankind beats The Rock, but does not win the world title. Dec. 14: Ken Shamrock & the Big Bossman win the WWF Tag Team titles in a rematch vs the New Age Outlaws. At the time, Bossman is the Hardcore champ; Shamrock is the Intercontinental Champ. Dec. 29: On a taped RAW shown the next Monday, Mankind wins the WWF World title from The Rock. It was Mankind's second match, as he lost a very short match to Triple H to see who'd go to the Royal Rumble. Shane McMahon was the guest referee, as well as Mankind's hostage used to demand his title shot. 1999 Jan. 11: The Undertaker forms the Ministry of Darkness, along with Paul Bearer & the Acolytes, when the Undertaker sacrifices Mideon. Jan. 25: Owen Hart & Jeff Jarrett beat Ken Shamrock & the Big Bossman for the WWF Tag Team titles when Debra distracts the Bossman. Later in the show, Chyna turns on Triple H after a World title "I Quit" match vs The Rock. Chyna is used as bait for HHH to say "I Quit" as Kane threatens to chokeslam her. Feb. 15: Shane McMahon wins the WWF European title in his first match while teaming with Kane against Triple H & X-Pac. The stipulation was if anyone pinned X-pac, they'd win his European title, which Shane did after nailing "X-Punk" with the belt. May 31: On Memorial Day, the Acolytes win the WWF Tag Team titles from X-Pac & Kane when Shane McMahon places a chair in front of X-Pac as he tries a bronco buster on Bradshaw. Bradshaw then hits the Clothesline from Hell for the win. June 29: A day after Austin won his 4th title from the Undertaker (or a week in TV time), Vince offered Austin 2 important stipulations for his Fully Loaded Fiurst Blood Match vs the Undertaker. If the Undertaker wins, "Stone Cold" could not recieve another WWF World title shot. If "Stone Cold" won, Mr. McMahon would have to leave the WWF. Austin accepted, & the Fully loaded match was dubbed the "End of An Era" match. Click here for Fully Loaded gallery. July 4: Vince is in a motorcycle accident when he is hit by a car. Man, WCW must be really desparate! Fortunately, Vince's inflated ego protected him form any serious injury. July 26: Mr. McMahon says his final goodbye on RAW. Steve Austin, Jim Ross & the crowd give him his (unjust) goodbye, chanting, "Na na na na, na na na na, oh Hell Yeah, goodbye!" (Jackasses.) After the break, as The Fink gives his tearful goodbye, McMahon has his last classic moment, growling, "Get the Hell outta my face!" August 5: Vince meets Chris Jericho for the first time, who was signed June 30th. September 13: VINCE COMES BACK! September 14: The next day, at the Smackdown tapings, Vince McMahon beats Triple H for the World title with Shane McMahon as the guest referee after interference from Steve Austin. September 20: Vince wisely gives up the belt on RAW, declaring that the winner of the 6 Pack Challenge at Unforgiven will be the nw champion. On that night, Steve Austin re-instates Vince McMahon, allowing Vince to make Austin the Enforcer for the 6 Pack match at Unforgiven.
