Background: Vin grew up in New York's Greenwich Village, in a building funded by the government. His family was poor but artistic. At age three his mother took him to the circus to see the lion act. And by the end of the act he was asking when he could get his chance to be on stage (now 30 years later it seems his dreams are coming true). His first paid acting job was at age 7 when he and some friends snuck into a local theater. A woman who had been watching them decided they had talent and paid them $20.00 a week. Vin worked in off broadway plays all the way through school.
At age 26 Vin premiered his first short film, "Multi-Facial" (which he wrote, produced, directed, financed, and starred in) at the Anthology Film Archives in Manhattan. It later screened at the 1995 Sundance Film Festival and gave Vin his first big break. This led to the making of his first feature film "Strays" which was also entered into Sundance. He also directed, produced, and starred in Strays. Then in 1998 Vin scored the role of Private Caparzo in "Saving Private Ryan." He studyed directing from Steven Spielberg, at times taking the camera from Spielberg to help with scenes in SPR.
And today at age 32, Vin is starring in two films: "Boiler Room" and "Pitch Black." The future looks bright for Vin, with tons of new fans and offers to make and star in new movies. He should be a strong force in the celebrity world sometime soon. Good job Vin!
