Use of information without a direct quote

How to do it:
Do NOT enclose the words in quotation marks.

Enclose the author and specific page in parentheses. 

Don't use the word "page" or "p" or use a comma within the parentheses.   

A source with an author

Method 1: Source given in text

Dr. Alicia Jones showed that 37% of high school students had tried marijuana by the time they graduated (76).

Method 2: Source in Parentheses

Her work showed that 37% of high school students had tried marijuana by the time they graduated (Jones 76).

This must be done whenever the researcher uses any of the following:
     Poll data,
     Lab results,
     Expert opinions,
     Statistics,
     Experimental evidence,
     Investigation results,
or other specific data that has been developed or researched by someone else.
