Shining Force 2 - Guide to South Parmecia

This is the Guide to South Parmecia. Battles are in red, and in between battle parts are in white.

Welcome to the 2nd Part of my Shining Force 2 Guide! After crossing the ocean on the boat, you crash-land on a uninhabited part of Parmecia, the mainland. The Minister instructs everyone to break up the boat to use the lumber to create your new town. When everyone starts, you carry up a plank to the upper level, and a man wants you to help look for his friend in the mountains. You tag along, and your Force follows you. You arrive and enter into your first battle on Parmecia, with all-new monsters!

Battle #8: This battle has pretty wierd monsters: 2 Witches, 2 Green Oozes, 4 Goblins, and 3 Hunter Goblins. The Witches use the powerful FREEZE (Level 1) not as much as you would think, but even still, attack swiftly and kill them as quick as you can. Attack the monsters directly to the east of you and then head north. Healing Order: Bowie, Sarah, Kazin, Jaha, Slade, Chester, Kiwi. The two men will take you to your new town after learning that the North Cliff cave is blocked.

One year passes, and Sir Astral and the King make you the Army of New Granseal. When you leave the castle, a strange yellow bird is outside. Stand in the empty space to watch a sequence and learn that the bird can talk and is called Peter. The Minister will invite him into the castle. Follow him. Sir Astral will tell you to go to Peter's hometown, Mt. Volcano. Go to the weapons shop on the cliff and upgrade everyone's weapons, then leave the town. Head east, and you will come to two different ways to go: take the south way. A battle will start.

Battle #9: This battle has 2 Witches, 2 Green Oozes, 3 Goblins, 2 Hunter Goblins, and 2 Vampire Bats. The Vampire bats have BLAZE (Level 2)! Watch out, they can also poison you. Move slowly southeast until the battle is over. One of the witches has the Power Ring, and if the character who defeats her has room, they will pick it up! Equip it to Bowie or Jaha. Healing Order: Bowie, Sarah, Kazin, Slade, Jaha, Chester, Kiwi, Peter. You cannot control Peter in battle yet, and I have found that he causes some people to fall behind because he kills the enemy they were about to, that is why Peter is healed last. Peter can also regenerate himself, so you don't need to Raise him at a Church. After the battle, follow the mountains in the north and you will eventually reach Ribble.

In Ribble, buy some new weapons for your team, and go to the southeast corner and look for a centaur. Talk to her, and she will join your Force. She is May and is your first arrow user. Heal your people and then leave Ribble and head east. Prepare for a battle.

Battle #10: This battle has 2 Witches, 3 Goblins, 2 Hunter Goblins, 3 Vampire Bats, and 2 Dark Dwarves. The Dark Dwarves can't move very far, but still pack a hefty punch. Move slowly southeast again, and watch out for the BLAZE attacks from the Vampire Bats. Healing Order: Bowie, Sarah, May, Jaha, Kazin, Slade, Chester, Peter, Kiwi. After the battle, head east.

Follow the river until you get to a bridge. Don't cross the bridge, but keep going north and when you get to the next bridge, cross it, then when the river goes west, follow it. Keep going until you reach a cave. Inside the cave is the next battle.

Battle #11: This battle contains 2 Witches, 2 Hunter Goblins, 3 Vampire Bats, 2 Dark Dwarves, and 1 Hobgoblin. The boss is the Hobgoblin. Even though you can't see the whole screen, use the Map feature to find your own characters and the enemies. Head left and kill the enemies there, then Heal and head north. Now, since your characters are growing differently, and you may have one or two a few levels behind the other, I won't have any more Healing Orders. All I can say is to Heal your main character(Bowie) and then your healers, then the rest of your Force. If someone falls 5 or more levels behind, don't bother Healing them. After the battle, get the Silver Tank from the chest on the right and leave through the left exit.

Go left into the Polca Village. Update your weapons, Raise your dead people, and heal any poison or sleep. Now go to the upper right-hand corner and a boy will come out and then fall. The mayor will take him into his house. Head east into another battle.

Battle #12: This battle has 2 Witches, 5 Hobgoblins, 3 Death Monks, 1 Death Archer, and 1 Evil Cloud. The boss is the Death Archer. The Death Monks Heal the enemies, so target them if they are within your reach. Move characters up the stairs quickly, then kill all the enemies on that level before you proceed. Go to the town at the top after the battle.

Two guards are at the entrance. They will leave to look for devils. Go in the city. The stairs are to the right. Keep going upstairs, but along the way, upgrade your weapons and Raise your dead people. Go talk to the bird in the chair at the top level. Then go up the stairs to the right. Go up and talk to Volcanon. After that, Peter will OFFICIALLY join the Force, which means you can control him in battle now. Now go talk to the King again, and Luke will leave to go get you a raft. Go left and down the stairs. Now go to the left side of this floor, and exit one of the doors on the bottom. There you will find a bird, so talk to it. She will say, "Ssh! My hatchling is sleeping!" Now leave the city. When you get to where you met the guards, go left, and you will find bushes. Go between three of them, and the hatchling that mom was talking about will fall, and you will "catch" it. Now leave the city completely. (That bird that fell was Skreech, and he will join your Force later on.) Go back to Polca Village and prepare for a battle in the city...

Battle #13: Gerhalt joins just before the battle, which has 3 Hobgoblins, 4 Death Archers, 2 Evil Clouds, 1 Black Monk, 5 Zombies, and the boss, 1 Master Mage. Watch out for the Master Mages' BLAZE(Level 2) attacks, they can hurt. Move VERY slowly west, and attack any enemies along the way, and beware the Zombie and Evil Cloud to the southeast. This is a pretty hard battle, but not the hardest. After the battle, Luke joins, but he only has a Middle Sword, so update his weaponry and leave the town.

Now, leave the town and get on the raft. Head south on the river and you'll enter a cave. When you exit, notice you are just south of Ribble. Go south until you find some mountains. Just east of the mountains is a desert and a battle.

Battle #14: This battle has 2 Death Archers, 1 Master Mage, 2 Evil Clouds, 2 Black Monks, 4 Zombies, and 4 Golems. The Golems are new and have a pretty good attack, but they can't move much, so take advantage of this and attack first. After the battle, enter the cave at the right.

An old guy will complain about his grandson, Petro, and then follow you. Get the Steel Sword in the chest to the right, then go to the cave you saw south of Ribble(where you got May). The old guy will take you in, and a battle starts.

Battle #15: This is an interesting battle, with 5 Golems, 4 Gargoyles, 2 Arrow Launchers, 2 Black Monks, and 2 Master Mages. The Gargoyles have a high attack and can fly, so watch out! Kill 'em fast! After the battle, the old guy will tell you that the tunnel to Grans Island is blocked. Go get the Power Water and Wooden Panel from the chests.

Now go back up to Ribble and stand in front of the tree. Use the A Button and use the Wooden Panel here. Inside you'll find the Achilles Sword! Sell the weapon that Bowie is using, and have him equip the Achilles Sword. Now get on the raft on follow the river south. You'll come to the Kraken!

Battle #16: The most annoying battle to date. There are 8 Kraken Legs, 2 Kraken Arms, and of course, the Kraken head. Move Kazin, Luke, May, and Peter up to kill the head FAST. That's how I always beat the battle, because the head is the Boss.

After the Battle, go to the twon you see. Go to Rodhes place, and talk to him twice. He'll follow you. Then buy new weapons, raise people, and leave the town and head west. Sigh... another battle...

Battle #17: This battle has 2 Master Mages, 2 Golems, 2 Black Monks, 2 Arrow Launchers, 2 Soulsowers, and 4 Gargoyles. The Soulsowers have a heavy attack and good defense, but can't move much. After the battle, head west to the Taros Shrine(raise your people first; theres another battle!).

Battle #18: Hoo boy. The Taros battle. Taros can't move, but only Bowie can hurt him(provided he has the Achilles Sword). Besides Taros, this battle has 2 Master Mages, 1 Black Monk, 2 Golems, 2 Arrow Launchers, 3 Gargoyles, and 2 Soulsowers. Good Luck!(Tip: Save all of Sarah's magic power. Kill all the enemies except Taros. Move Bowie in for a few hits, then move him out and have Sarah heal him. I also use other people as decoys, but don't rely on this, because Taros usually attacks Bowie.)

After the battle, you recieve the Caravan. By putting your character over it and pushing C, you can enter it and do all kinds of things. You can store Items in the Depot, use an Item on someone, take someone out of battle, or put someone in. Get used to it following you, because it does for the rest of the game! Go back to Hassan and buy new weapons from the guy just inside the entrance, and talk to Rick and he'll join. Then leave and head north, and you will see a tight path leading offscreen. Go up, and you will get on some rocks. Head west, and you will see a cave. Remember the location, but skip it for now. After you get off the Caravan, you'll see a forest, with nine squares that look different from the others. Step on these, and it's actually a town! In the upper left corner of the town is a Vigor Ball, which can promote a PRST to a MMNK, which I highly recommend. By the way, your people should be about level 20 by now, so go to a church and promote them. In the bottom right corner is a Mithril, and next to the Mithril is a secret battle. You don't have to fight this, and at this time in the game, it's pretty hard, so just skip it. Inside the main building in the 2nd floor there is a bookshelf. Search it to find the Secret Book, which promotes a MAGE to a SORC(also recommended). Leave the town and head west.

Battle #19: This battle has 2 Arrow Launchers, 3 Gargoyles, 4 Soulsowers, 1 Dark Madam, 3 Orcs, and 2 High Priests. The High Priests Heal people, so target them first. The Orcs have high attacks, more than the Gargoyles, so they are important to kill fast too. After the battle, head west.

Oddler will hear screams, and will lead you into an area with Elric in the pond. A battle starts, and Elric joins after.

Battle #20: This hard battle has: 1 Arrow Launcher, 2 Dark Madams, 2 Orcs, 2 High Priests, and 5 Harpys. The Harpys have HUGE attacks, and a Dispel magic spell too. Watch out, and kill them fast! After the battle, Elric joins. Leave the Harpy Pool and go up, and Elric will reveal a secret cave.

Inside the cave, you'll find: 1 Brave Apple, 1 Medical Herb, 1 Angel Wing, and 1 Mithril. The entrance to get to these is just below the stairs, and the entrance to the Mithril is just before you get to the Brave Apple and the other two items. Leave through the left exit, and another battle starts.

Battle #21: This battle has: 2 Skeletons(the one on the far left is the boss), 2 Harpys, 3 Orcs, 2 High Priests, 2 Dark Madams, and an Arrow Launcher. The Skeletons are yet another high attacker, and they always have a Medical Herb so when you kill it, you'll recieve one(provided the killer has an empty item spot). After the battle, enter Creed's.

Go into Creed's, and you'll turn small and find yourself on a desktop. Talk to the King, and prepare for the hardest battle in the game(besides Zeon, this is the hardest).

Battle #22: I almost went nuts because of this battle. It has 2 Rooks, 6 Pawns, 2 Knights, 2 Evil Bishops, 3 Queens, and the boss, the King. All I can say is kill as fast as possible, and keep Bowie BACK! After the battle,(which will take a few tries) the king will give you the Cotton Balloon. Go left and down as far as you can, then head right to the pen. Go to the end of it and use the Cotton Balloon.

You will see someone trying to pick up a ring, but you can't get it yet. Another battle is in the upper right door.

Battle #23: 6 Bubbling Oozes, 5 Rats, and a Willard. The Willard is the boss. You only fight all of these guys once, so just kill them and move on. After the battle you'll see Creed.

Creed will take you downstairs to see Evil Spirit, and then you will learn that Princess Elis is alive. Go back up and Creed will let you choose one of four people to join you. Pick either Karna or Tyrin(I'd pick Karna), then go back into the "small" room, and pick up the Running Ring behind the chair. Leave, and Oddler will stay here. The Healing Rain can be found in the left, by the trees. You have to go behind them to get it. Take the fairy to that Cave, and she'll heal the dwarf and they'll give you a Cannon. Go back to New Granseal, and talk to Sir Astral. He'll follow you, and talk to the guy next to the Weapons shop. He'll give you some Dynamite. Buy some weapons, and head to North Cliff(where the first battle on this mainland was, remember?). A battle starts.

Battle #24: This battle has 2 Dark Bishops, 3 Dark Snipers, 5 Lesser Demons, and 6 Skeletons. The Dark Bishops heal, and the Dark Snipers can hit you from 4 spaces away! The Lesser Demons have a BLAZE spell, but they don't use it often.

Go to the cave and Sir Astral will have Rodhe open it. He will then join you as a BRGN. Enter the cave for another battle.

Battle #25: The last cave battle. It has 4 Dark Snipers, 2 Lesser Demons, 2 Dark Bishops, 5 Skeletons, and the boss, a Dark Soldier. The Dark Soldier has a high attack but low move.

I finally finished the South Parmecia guide! The North Parmecia guide will come soon!
