Hi,
As you probably have guessed by now, I am
Sajadatun MuQaribu now Miller. I hope you have found this site interesting, and if you
are an alumni of Detroit Southeastern High Class of 1981, I hope that you are encouraged to attend. I
served as treasurer on the 10-year reunion committee. Even though it was interesting experience, the
reunion night was well worth it. I spoke and laughed with many people that I had grown up with, and it
was an bittersweet experience. As we talked and exchanged our life stories, I was reminded that despite
well laid plans, you never know what path your life will take. At eighteen or seventeen, most of us had a
naïve perception of how our lives would go, but never dreamed of the routes that we would travel.

 | I had dreamed of being in journalism, but like my buddy Jackie Parks, spent most of my career in
banking. I have few regrets, because with the grace of the Supreme Being, my journey continues. I still
like to write, and now I am working toward teaching Elementary Education. Being among the eldest in a
large family as some of you might know, I never thought that I would want to teach, or even be a parent.
But as a mother of two children and as an aunt, I realized that I was a teacher. So I am going to give it a
try it as a profession also. Wish me luck! | |
 | Designing this site was an experience for me. I have experienced the excitement of seeing my ideals as a
webpage. There have been the times when trying to write HTML has had its up and down also.
Especially when working in Netscape, and finding out that the codes do not show the same effects in
Internet Explorer! I also remember those times of my howling in pain when my memory-deficit, tired old
computer would crash. I have also met and learned from many on the web too. As I set up the senior
photos pages, I was reminded again of those classmates that are no longer with us. Those photos also
reminded me that time is precious, and that we better make the most of it. To my fellow alumni:
I hope to see you there.
Peace,
Saja Miller
