PB and Jazz...

So, JB had an awesome year, beginning to work the jazz festival circuit with stops at University of Michigan, Western Michigan, and Aquinas College. Thanks goes out to Dr. Brewer (Faculty at Aquinas) also for acting as guest soloist during the spring jazz night. Anyway, all of the remaining jazz band members should all gang up on the director (Haan-dawg...wonderbar!) and force him to let the JB play something a little more, uh, well known than Percolator or Muggle Jive (not to discriminate against lesser known composers!).

One Day, long ago, a man named Mr. Haan was born. When he was three, he decided that his goal in life was to have the greatest basketball pep band in Michigan. And so he worked hard to achieve his dream, taking band courses in high school and majoring in music in college. He finally got a job at Wyoming Park high school, and said "my lifelong dream has been to be in charge of the greatest pep band in Michigan." And so he got the job. Over the years, he has worked hard to collect and keep organized all of the pep band music in the music library. And one day, a few years ago, we had a pep band. But Mr. Haan wasn't satisfied, no way! There just wasn't enough students in it, and the instrumentation wasn't very good because there's usually supposed to be less Tenor Sax players than the rest of the pep band put together. But, the tale gets sadder, because over the next years, pep band went down the pipes. Nobody would show up, and he would have to cancel pep band for the night. And even the basketball team was sad, because they didn't have anyone to play "Let's go Blue" for them. Well, this story has a happy ending. This past year, Mr. Haan started up a jazz band during zero hour (before school starts). And since that was thriving and pep band obviously didn't do well in the past, he decided to make jazz band the core group for pep band too! And so we combined the names, and that was the birth of the peZZ band. Now, while peZZ band is mostly jazz band members, it's still open to anyone who knows how to play an instrument and wants to have fun on any given Tuesday or Friday night!

Jazz Band Updates
Okay, yadda yadda it's been great. *tear* The year closes to an end and we still don't have that cool of music... I mean hey you just can't beat Last Night of the Bengal, right guys?.... right. So everyone knows about the "I-need-a-new-webmaster" complaint by now, thats been mentioned like 8 times... uhhh... just not sure what else to say! i think i'm losing my touch...
So that same awesome JB idea from me ;) I was listening to this typical 70's disco cd I found and thought how cool would it be if we collaborated with the Sound System or something and had a 70's Disco type night in the spring (we're having decade week and then a sock hop eventually anyway). I mean that would bring in so many people and we all know the music, we could dress in style... fun, lots of fun! But we'll deal with the situations on hand right now. well, yeah. Anyways, we've lost our Trombone Power and Buckey Mute man... and our 'So-LOW'ist.... However we've added the measure 39, a stevie wonder-bassist, and rachel ford playing a bass clarinet solo (gr!)....
