The Park's Very own BSC

Matt Batchelder (sophomore)

Matt Helak (Junior)

Here's a small tribute to the 2000 chapter of the Wyoming Park BSC. The B, being Bari, the S being Sax and of course the C is confidential. (They won't even tell me!) This dynamic Duo is part of the world-famous WPHS Low voices se(x)ction. Sooner or Later I hope to have some pictures and better biographies on them, but it's hard to do when they aren't exactly helping....
Well, the younger of the two barisax brothers, Mister Batchelder, has plans to enter the Army later in life so he can pay for his college tuition. The previous marching season he played tenor sax, therefore he is new to the BSC. Apparently, the band directors thought that two was enough, but this year he takes Bryan Bauw's place. After leaving the tenor sax section, he has graced the bass voices with his presence as number BS 18. He has helped the band by showing up while Matt is not there and vice versa. He has been known as Paco, Littlefoot, and Batch to the surrounding girls....He is a man of many names, a regular 006 1/2. He has quite a few pairs of cargo pants, as anyone can notice during band, but we're trying to teach him how to dress himself nicely. His plaid shirts compliment the other Matt's neon shirts quite nicely. While he and the elder Matt may be best friends, they can be seen and heard, frrom 1.8 miles away on a foggy day, harrassing each other constantly. While he may have had some shaving accidents in the past, I'm sure he will get it all next time. After the rapage accidents in Toronto, he's been stalking a certain flute player, and after heeding no success, he only tries again the next day. He is commonly known as the "Matt" of the "MattBenandJoeGroup", or the "Three Musty Queers" (due to the hotel room events in Toronto). After next year, the elder Matt will graduate, and little Matt will become leader of the BSC, training little BS'ers to be just like him.
The elder, more experienced member has played the BS all of his life. He survived band camp last year with Bryan Bauw, and got a harsh lesson about pick-pocketing and wearing pants with holes in the back. This summer, he harrassed the colorguard instructor about his bandana and made good with the low voices staff member. He also has had many nicknames throughout the years, but we won't post those on here....We believe that the first words out of his mouth when he was a child were "um, no." It seems to be one of his favorite phrases. His other one phrase is "um, yes." He says he has his college plans all figured out, but this is also coming from a person who thinks that the BSC rules the band, so I wouldn't exactly trust that information. Both of the BSC guys have been seen marking down "Narcatto accents" and "Narcing things on their music" for sectional purposes...we just let the other people wonder. It's best left that way. This Matt considers himself lucky to be sitting in the direct middle of the MattBenandJoeGroup, therefore subject to every witty comment that passes forth. Matt has decided that he's going to finish out his senior year next year on top, so he's been getting good with the other section leaders for his section, Brandon (Matt's other half) and Katie. While Matt has no sailing experience whatsoever, he plans on tagging along with Brandon in ten years when he sails around the world. Matt can be found spending his nights at Javasphere, getting beaten by about 300 points by his aforementioned female section leader. He has big plans for this summer, as next year also, juggling dual enrollment along with the capades of being a senior in band.
