Album Reviews

I'm sure ya'll got off your butts long enough to stop staring at those absolutely SEXY pics of JC on your bedroom wall long enough to get the new cd "Celebrity". You best better have. It's tons better than "No Strings Attached". but if you haven't gotten it yet, fear not! I'm here to give you my own personal review of the awesome cd. If I offend you in anyway, don't take it seriously. This is only MY review, which means it's only little ol' me's opinions. Onward....

Track 1: "Pop"

written by Justin Timberlake/Wade Robson

Okay we all know what "Pop" sounds like. It's all over radio and not to mention TRL. You can figure out what you think of it yourself. But if you don't like it, ya must be crazy. How can anyone not like the slammin' beats of the song, or Justin's amazing beat-boxing.

Song rating: 8/(out of)10

Track 2: "Celebrity"

written by Justin Timberlake/Wade J. Robson/J. Valentine

The song is catchy and pretty humorous. You'll often find yourself running around chanting 'celebrity celebrity'. One of my personal favorite parts of the song is a line in the chorus; 'If I didn't have cheese like everyday, would you still wanna be with me'. How many people are creative enough to mention having cheese in any of their songs? Well obviously *N Sync's very own awesome Justin Timberlake is. And not to mention, the beat is great.

Song rating: 8/10

Track 3: "The Game is Over"

written by JC Chasez/Alex Greggs/Brad Daymond

The song almost sounds like it could have been the background music for a video game. I could totally see a music video for this song that has these guys jumping around in an actual video game. The beat is amazing. A total heart rushing, blood pounding, body grinding little number. The bridge is the best. The bridge sounds almost like it has Mystikal rapping.

rating: 10/10

Track 4: "Girlfriend"

written by Justin Timberlake/Chad Hugo/Pharrell Williams

Okay, the first time I heard this song, I wasn't that crazy about it. But that's cuz I was on the phone with Michelle (hey Michelle...we are Tay's hoes hehe), so I wasn't that able to listen closely. Once I got off the phone and went through the whole album again I found myself singing it and bopping my head to the beat. How can anyone not like this song?

rating: 7/10

Track 5: "The Two of Us"

written by JC Chasez/Alex Greggs/Brad Daymond

Okay, this song made me cry. It was because when I was flippin' through the booklet and it came to that one pic of Lance I started bawling. That's because there was this guy at my school that I liked. He looked almost EXACTLY like Lance. He even had the same deep sexy voice, and the same laid back mannerism. He just graduated so I'll prolly never see him again. I can't look at Lance now without seeing my crush. MEN!!! But seriously, I LOVE this song. So sweet! And makes me think about amusement parks or carnivals.

rating: 10/10

track 6: "Gone"

written by Justin Timberlake/Wade J. Robson

This song is beautiful. That's all I can say.

rating: 8/10

track 7: "Tell Me, Tell Me Baby"

written by Max Martin/Rami

Okay, in the beginning when JC comes on and says "Hold on, uh you know what, can we back it up just a lil' bit"...that made me squeal. Hehe! God! I can be such a teeny. The beat is amazing. I LOVE this song (boy I seem to say that alot)!!!

rating: 10/10

track 8: "Up Against the Wall"

written by JC Chasez/Justin Timberlake/Alex Greggs/Brad Daymond

Hello!!! Eeeeks! This song makes me get excited. Hehehehe! DAMNED HORMONES!!!! I can totally see this being played at like my school dances and stuff, and see evryone grindin'. This song is just awesome.

rating: 10/10

track 9: "See Right Through You"

written by Justin Timberlake/Wade J. Robson/Larry "Rock" Campbell

I love this song. You have no idea. OMG! My fave line; "Does he freak you the way that I do, cuz you know that I know how to". That song gets me excited just hearing JC sing that. OMG! I love the beat to this song too.

rating: 10/10

track 10: "Selfish"

written by JC Chasez/Jolyon Skinner/Veit Renn

This song is so sweet. I litterally fell off the bed when JC sang "if love is a crime, then punish me, I would die for you". He sounded so amazing, and his voice was just full of so much passion. You can just tell that he really gets into what he's singing. That's one of the reasons I love this song so much. And Justin's voice is deffinetly sounding especially good in this song.

rating: 10/10

track 11: "Just Don't Tell Me That"

written by Kristian Lundin/Jake/Andreas Carlsson

This song is awesome. I love the beat, and just everything about this song.

rating: 10/10

track 12: "Something Like You"

written by Justin Timberlake/Robin Wiley

I love everything about this song. Especially the fact that Stevie Wonder plays on it. And being from Michigan, everyone here is so proud of him. He's a legend you know? No one can say enough about him. He's a genius. But besides that, this song is so beautiful. I can totally see this song reaching #1 on Billboards "Adult Contemporary" chart.

rating: 10/10

track 13: "Do Your Thing"

written by James Moss

Well, this song sounds like a soul song from like the 1980's. And well, I'm not crazy about 80's stuff. But I do like this song. It's not a fave though. The harmonies are great.

rating: 5/10

'N SYNC Album Title:Celebrity Producer(s): PRODUCERS: various Catalog Number: Jive 93220 Source: PRINT Originally Reviewed: July 28, 2001 Can 'N Sync accomplish what countless other teen-bred acts have terminated their careers trying to do? Can it enjoy superstar sales while savoring a taste of artistic credibility? If any act can do it, this is the one. In fact, Celebrity has the potential to be a textbook study in straddling the line between commerce and creativity. 'N Sync's third set shows the group writing and co-producing much of its material. The result is a set that balances safe single bets ("The Game Is Over") with potent forays into hip-hop ("Girlfriend") and 2-step dance ("Up Against the Wall"). Even the ballads are more daring, as evidenced by the old-school gem "Gone." Some may note the dominance of Justin Timberlake and J.C. Chasez over other members (none of whom contribute more than backing vocals), but the truth is that the quintet has never sounded tighter.LF *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Making the transition from bubblegum idols to artistes is usually about as awkward as a case of acne on prom night. Such are the growing pains facing *NSYNC now that the pop phenoms have all left behind their teens. (The quintet's youngest member, Justin Timberlake, turned 20 in January.) Not to mention that they are facing the very grown-up pressure of following up last year's biggest album, the 11-million-selling No Strings Attached. That's why Celebrity represents such an impressive achievement for Timberlake, JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Chris Kirkpatrick and Joey Fatone. While experimenting with edgier sounds, such as the two-step of the jittery first single "Pop" and the sinister funk of the title track, they also pump up their boy-band appeal with the lush five-part harmonies of "Girlfriend," "Do Your Thing" and the simply stunning ballad "Gone." Bottom Line: Men among boy bands. *~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
