Kandor

After the attack on Kandor, General Zod retrieved one of the Brainiac drones. Zor-El and Alura attempted to recreate Brainiac’s force field technology, but only managed to cover Argo City. The dome protected the city from complete destruction; however, Brainiac sensed his technology in use and tracked down Argo City and began to integrate it into Kandor, slaughtering anyone in believed to be ‘redundant’ in information. Due to the instability of the dome, Zor-El knew the time on Argo was limited and sent his daughter Kara Zor-El to follow Ka-El to Earth. When Kara was sent off, Argo City was merged with Kandor and shrunk into one of Brainiac’s bottled cities.

It would be years later when Superman faced the true Brainiac within his ‘Bio-Shell’ and come in contact with Zor-El. After a long battle, Superman retrieved the bottled city of Kandor and take it to Antarctica, where his Fortress of Solitude resides. Placing it behind his Fortress, the containment field holding the city became unstable and formed Kandor on Earth.

When Superman visited Kandor, he learned that the diversity in the architecture reflected the different guilds on Krypton, the House of El being one among the Science Guild. The Soldier’s Guild is represented by the bunker-like formation, which the House of Zod resides, still considered a hero by many for his valiant battle against Brainiac. Since Zod’s attack on Metropolis, Superman wants to show that these Kryptonians are not like Zod by teaching them the rules of Earth as well as their customs and culture.
