Currently I am living in the Great Lake state near the shifting sand dunes of Lake Michigan.
I've spent most of my life growing up here near the lake and have throughly enjoyed it. Some of my fondest memories as a child were venturing to the beach on a warm summer day for an afternoon of swimming and building sandcastles.
Today it's rollerblading or bike riding to the beach to soak in the scenery and to feel the fresh breeze of lake on my face. When I was 10, my family moved to Arkansas where my dad got a teaching position at a state university.
For six years, I lived the life of a southerner in a small rural town in the southwest corner of Arkansas called Magnolia. There, I picked up the Southern dialect, grew to love black-eyed peas and pecan pie, learned how to drive without hurry, and gained invaluable friendships.
When I moved back to Michigan, my driving habits quickly changed and later I lost my Southern drawl. Back in Michigan I completed high school and went on to Hope College where I earned a B.S. degree in biology.
Since I enjoy doing so many different things I would have to consider myself a diletante. Learning and experiencing new things is my favorite thing to do. But to be more specific, in my free time I enjoy reading, nature walks, bird watching,
walking my dogs, Irish dancing, learning new computer skills and hanging out with friends. There's lots of other things I enjoy, but those are what stick out most in my mind.
