Bite Size Horse Munches

2 C. rolled oats
1 C. cracked corn
1 C. flax seed
1 C. wheat
1 C. rolled barley
1 Tablespoon salt
1 C. oat bran
1 C. wheat bran
6 C. Quaker Oats
2 1/2 C. applesauce
2 C. hot water

Grease lg. cookie sheet lightly. Use a 5 qt. container which can be covered
while refrigerated. Mix all ingredients well and refrigerate batter for one
hour before baking. Using a tablespoon, scoop each onto a cookie sheet and
flatten slightly. Bake at 275 degrees for 45 minutes, then turn cookies over
and bake another 45 minutes. Makes 17 dozen bite sized horse cookies.

Horse Taffy Apples

2 apples
1\4 cup molasses
1\2 tablespoon salt
1 cup oatmeal
Cut apples into quarters, cover in molasses put in bag with salt and oatmeal, shake and serve

Oatmeal-Carrot Sweetness

carrots
Cut carrot down the middle, spread molasses on flat side. stick oatmeal on them,sprinkle sugar on top.

Suprisingly Sweet Apple

1 apple
molasses
1\2 carrot, grated
Core apple, pour molasses into apple until full. sprinkle carrots on top. serve immediately

Heart Cookie

5 carrots grated
1 apple grated
1\2 cup sugar
Mix all ingredents togather and mold into a heart on a flat plate; refriderate for 25 minutes

ZIP’S SPECIAL DAY TREATS

Ingredients:
1 packet of Quaker oatmeal (dry)
1 handful of sweet feed
2 spoonfuls applesauce
1 spoonful honey or molasses
1 handful Cheerios
4 sugar cubes
a pinch of brown sugar
? cup water (one half cup)
Directions:
You can mix this right in your horse’s feed bucket. Mix the oatmeal with the water. Add sweet feed and applesauce. Stir together. Add the Cheerios, brown sugar, and honey or molasses. Mix again and place sugar cubes on top. This serves one horse.

SUNDAY COOKIES

Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked oatmeal
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded carrots
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
2 tablespoons corn oil
? cup water (one quarter cup)
? cup molasses (one quarter cup)
Directions:
Mix ingredients in a bowl in the order listed. Make small balls and place on cookie sheet sprayed with Pam. Bake 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown. Horses love ‘em!

BIRTHDAY CAKE

Ingredients:
4 cups of sweet feed or oats
1 cup of molasses or honey
2 carrots cut into carrot sticks
1 apple cut into slices
Directions:
Mix the honey and sweet feed or oats together in a big bowl. When fully mixed, place the mixture on a plate and shape into the form of a birthday cake. Use the carrots as candles and the apple slices as decorations. Horses really enjoy this sticky but delicious treat.

HORSE COOKIES

Ingredients:
1 cup uncooked oats
1 cup flour
1 cup shredded carrots
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
2 teaspoons vegetable oil
? cup molasses (one quarter cup)

Directions:
Mix ingredients in bowl as listed. Make little balls and place on cookie sheet. (spray the cookie sheet with oil or Pam.) Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

WINTER SALAD

Ingredients:
6 apples, quartered
8 carrots, cut in three inch pieces
2 cups Quaker oats
1 cup sweet feed
Molasses
Directions:
Combine all ingredients and fold in enough molasses to make the oatmeal and grain stick to the fruit. Chill overnight and serve.

COLD WINTER BRAN MASH

Ingredients:
4 cups sweet feed
6 cups bran
1 cup molasses
Hot water
Directions:
Mix sweet feed with the bran. Add hot water until it is the consistency of hamburger. Add molasses. Let steep for 5 to 10 minutes.

CARROT AND APPLE HORSE COOKIES

Ingredients:
1 cup sweet feed
2 cups bran
1 cup flax seed
4 large carrots, shredded
1 cup molasses
? cup brown sugar (one half cup)
1 cup applesauce
Directions:
Mix and refrigerate for about 25 mins.-Serve.
