Promises, Healing, Restrained
I sat at a booth in the coffee shop across from Shawn. We never really said anything to each other. I had to leave. Right before I did I gave him the letter I wrote him a while ago. We looked at each other, I just walked out about to cry.>>> I sat in the seat behind the driver's seat of Lee's van. The slender, beautiful me drove, Lee in the passenger's seat, Mike nest to me, Libby, Nessa, and Andy in the back, then Shawn sat in the far back on top of the sleeping bags and suitcases. Everyone stared straight ahead except for me looking out the window crying, Shawn looking head down writing, and the skinny me was giggling and having fun talking with Lee up front. I turned to look at Shawn, he was looking down, and then he looked at me, his face showed deep thought and confusion. I quickly turned back around, not wanting to let him see me fall apart, I held back my tears. I looked out the window, the sky was very dark, 6 tornados in a row were in the feild, B. Amber spend the van up and got out of their path. Everyone else still stared straight ahead. Then a small tornado was comming up on the other side of the road. B. Amber swerves to the right into a corn feild, right then everyone snaps out of their "mode", nothing's in slow motion anymore. A loud flapping sound filled the van, the corn stalks smacking against the speeding van. We flew out onto a road just before a large, very odd looking town, the city always in my dreams. We entered the city. On the right there was a Wendy's, B. Amber pulled the van into the parking lot. We all went inside. I sat in a booth across from Andy, Shawn sat behind him, by himself, whispering stuff to Andy, they laughed together. Nessa, Libby, and Mike sat together. B. Amber and Lee got our food. I ate something, I have no idea what though. B. Amber and Lee sat far from the group at a table, they still smiled and laughed together. I got up and went out to the van, laying down across the back seat. Shawn followed me but sat outside on the curb, in the rain smoking a cigarette. I watched him through the window as I laid on my stomach. He got up and paced around for a minute, through his cigarette to the ground then got in the van with me. He flicked a paper at me then jumped over the seat, laying down in the back again. "Read it," he said. I sat up, unfolded it, then read the poem/note. I can only recall the title, "Regaining Myself". Everyone came back to the van. Shawn asked me to sit in the back with him. I went back there. He handed me a Jewel poem book and said, "You left this in the coffee shop the other day, I've been reading it." I opened it up and flipped through it, there were white, folded up pieces of paper on numorous pages. I looked at him questioningly. "I was trying to write to you, those are some poems I've written." I opened one up, titled "Healing", andother called "Restrained", then "Promises". There were so many of them. "See, I've been thinking about you a lot lately," he whispered. I could feel myself melt, on the verge of tears. We hugged each other. "Amanda's on the phone!" B. Amber yelled back at me. Andy passed me the cell phone. "Hello?" "Hey sweetie, wow my party was great, I met this new guy, we connected like so great, I fucked him last night, his name is Luke." "Amanda, what are you doing?" "Don't worry, I'm happy." "I have Shawn...he wrote me back." "Ohh, sweetie, that's great." Shawn nuzzled against my neck, then kissed my cheek, his arms wrapped around my waist. "I'm gonna let you go," I said to Amanda. "Okay, bye sweetie!" I hung up the phone, put it down. I then wrapped my arms around Shawn's shoulders. We started kissing.
