Dr Vince Rizzo known to most as "Doc Rizzo" or Vince, served as the club President: 1973, 1978 - 1981. Vince's wife Nancy served as the club treasurer from 1982 though 1998. Vince and Nancy Rizzo were also executive board members for many years. Vince and Nancy have been hardworking, passionate and devoted to the German Shorthaired Pointer breed, the German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Michigan, and Field Trials. Regardless of what the club needed. Vince and Nancy Rizzo were always there to donate their time and their resources.


Vince and Nancy Rizzo were in attendance at just about every meeting, and always greeted new members with kindness and respect. Vince delighted in telling stories of the clubs past, the dogs and its members. Vince and Nancy Rizzo were also event chairman and secretary at the clubs spring and fall field trial for many years. Vince was also instrumental in introducing the Walking Field Trial as a spring event.



Vince was a highly thought of, field trial judge. Vince judged numerous AKC Field Trials, American Field trials, classics and championships for all of the pointing breeds, all over the mid-west, for over 30 years. Vince and Nancy Rizzo were awarded Honorary Lifetime Membership in the German Shorthaired Club of Michigan for their years of service. Vince Rizzo passed in 2014, Nancy is still a member. Their son Blake Rizzo continues their passion and dedication to the GSP Breed and pointing dog field trial and tests.



The Story of Highwater Kennels:

Vince and Nancy were out for a horseback ride one day in the early 60's. They stopped on a hilltop to observed a dog below. They watched with interest as the dog came across two pheasants. The dog killed the first pheasant and buried it. The dog went forward and locked onto the point where it remained steady until the dog's handler arrived. Vince and Nancy were astounded by this dogs intelligence, so they inquired about the dog. This encounter lead them to a lifetime of German Shorthaired Pointers, The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of Michigan and Field Trial.



Dr. Vince and Nancy Rizzo owned many very competitive German Shorthaired Pointers over the years. Here are a just a few stars of their Highwater kennel. Field Champion Highwater La Belle Serena. American Field Champion Highwater Raisenette Mickie and Field Champion Highwater Silent Arrow. Field trial and training and breeding are features of this Michigan kennel operation.
