The Holland Huskies Malamutes

Hi there; welcome to the official site of Holland, Michigan's, strangest residents: 56 plush Alaskan Malamutes, 1 Siberian Husky and his Malamute-cross pal, 2 more Siberian Huskies, 5 Japanese huskies, 2 Greenland Dogs, 2 Canadian Eskimo Dogs, 1 quirky hybrid, 10 Alaskan Racing Huskies, 1 Mackenzie River Husky, and several wolves. (Yes, if you add up all the numbers you get eighty-one sled dogs!) I'm Beauregard, the oldest Mal, and I got our person, Holly, to create this site for us in 1999 after much pleading, begging and howling in the middle of the night.

Let me tell you a little about myself: I'm almost 17 years old and have visited many interesting places: Washington state, Chicago, Kentucky, Alaska--and a few boring ones: Poland, Florida and somewhere else where it was way too hot for a Mal to enjoy the experience. I have a college degree just like Holly, only my credentials are different: I'm a PHD (Plush Husky-Dog) Psychologist, which is partly how I convinced her to make this site. The photo above is misleading: I'm much more handsome in life, but my mate Polaris says I haven't been in top form since my traumatic experience with a washing machine and dryer several years ago. Sorry, Hol; I had to say it.

Above is a shot of the "pack" in 1999, when there were a lot fewer of us, and the Hope College Anchor, a famous Holland landmark....

...And here's a photo of almost everyone, taken in December 2005. Holly can't stand either of these pictures, by the way. If you believe her, the first shot makes her look "weird", and in the second one her eyebrows are "ragged" and she forgot to put in earrings. People can be so difficult!

You'll get to meet the other dogs when you check out the sub-pages below. Enjoy!

NEWS: We're always tinkering with the Links page and doing some renovations. We're still waiting for photos of Sledder (son of Barrow and Glacier), Roddi and Punty's pup Frontier, plus we now need to get pix of new arrivals Wasilla, Tagish, Rose, Simonetta, Kendall, Champ and Winter taken and posted. We're working on it--and the penguins are demanding a page of their own. If you're interested in what we did on our second Alaska vacation, click HERE; Holly got our photos posted and they look great!

Running list of dogs who still need photos taken and posted: Sledder, Frontier, Wasilla, Tagish, Rose, Simonetta, Kendall, Champ, Winter.
