Facts and fictions about Basenji

Thank you for visiting my page at Angelfire. Please come back and visit again! Basenjis were called Devil dogs, because of their fierce determination used in their hunting skills! They refused to give up against their prey! The history of Basenji comes from Egypt. The words "Anpu" or "Anubis" and the word "Bisu" or "Bes", The two words together form the translation Basenji. The forms of Anpu and Bisu were, a black jackal, the God of death, and a large headed, Goggled eyed, Bow legged, Bushy tailed dwarf for Bisu. The two images combined created the portrait of a Basenji!

In the hunting tribes of Africa, Basenjis are still used for their hunting skills, and their rank in the tribes are put above even the wives! They are often referred to as Congo, Bark-less, Bush master, and Basenji, and in Egypt as Bisu-Anpu! Basenji history and folklore.
