BO's Soggy Sneaker Classic

BO's Brewery & Bistro is THE place in Oakland County for an excellent evening dinner in a casual dining setting.

A late April Snow Shower did cause a two week delay in the BO's Brewery & Bistro's first "Soggy Sneaker" golf outing. We all knew the weather would be dicey at this time of the year, hence the Soggy Sneaker name. But nobody expected to see two inches of snow on April 9. By April 30 the weather had changed, and we experienced a fantastic sunny day, and by all accounts, BO's first Soggy Sneaker Golf Outing was a complete success. This doesn't mean everything went as planned, but all 128 participating golfers experienced a full day of golfing fun.

After a mid-morning registration period, coffee and "glad there is no snow" talk, 64 golf carts were lined up for the parade of eager golfers to their starting assignments. Our Shot Gun Start format required that all participating golfers be dispersed to their assigned starting locations to await the starter's cannon. Then at promptly 1:17, the cannon was fired, and play commenced.

All Soggy Sneaker 2000 Participants received T-shirts, individual beverage coolers, and golfing aids during registration. Prizes for accuracy, distance, closest to the pin, and of course low score, included cash, airline ticket, golf bags, and the wining team's names engraved upon the "Soggy Sneaker Award Trophy". These various prizes were pre-designated for selected holes on the course, including a $5000 dollar prize for a hole-in-one on Hole 13.

BO was on hand at "13" until the last golfer had completed the course at 5:12 to award the $5000 Hole-In-One Prize and meet all the competitors. Since no one accomplished a hole-in-one on #13, everyone was invited to try for the $5000 prize in next year's event.

Food and beverages (alcoholic/non-alcoholic) were provided throughout the event to prevent dehydration and loss of energy in the golf participants. Lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers were provided "at the clubhouse turn". For the post-event, a sit-down dinner preceded the awarding of the outing's prizes. Chef Brad and his assistant set up an outdoor grille to cook nearly 100 pounds of BO's New York Strip Steaks. Baked beans, tossed salad, rolls, potato salad, and corn-on-the-cob completed the meal. The beverages were provided in the clubhouse and from the courtesy cart, which roved the course throughout the event.

And what a Fantastic Finish we had for the Soggy Sneaker. After a full afternoon of golf, two teams entered the clubhouse with identical scores of 58. After the steak dinner, and with the spectator gallery watching from the clubhouse, a one-hole play-off on "13" finally determined our "Soggy Sneaker 2000 Champions". Congratulations to: Cory Bildstein Joshua Dawson Carl Knaack Todd Wozniak Hearty congratulations are also in order for David Hale, BO's Brewer, who collected the prize for Closest to the Pin on Hole 13, and to Rob Potter for shooting a hole-in-one on Hole 5 (a par four ALBATROSS). Enjoy the following Soggy Sneaker pictures until next year!
