Annie Clemenc stood over 6 feet tall and was know as "Big" Annie. She was a powerful leader in the copper miners’ strike of 1913 in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Draped in a huge American flag, she “led daily parades though the entire Calumet area, picketed ‘scabs’ and fought like a man when she believed human rights were being violated.
Big Annie was a principle organizer of the Christams party that ended in tragedy.
