Saskatoon Literary Agency Query Tips
A few tips on writing queries:
- Get my attention with the plot, the characters, the language.
- Keep it short and precise, but leave nothing out.
- Treat a query as if it is the most important letter of your life. Read it over a dozen times before sending it.
- Study dust jackets of books you like. Mimic the style of the description featured there.
- Plot, plot, plot. I'm not interested if I don't know what's going on. Neither are your readers.
- Finish your book before you query.
- I ask to see lots of manuscripts. If you're not ready to submit it for review, don't query.
