John J Johnston was born on January 28, 1928, at Moorland, Michigan. After graduation
from high school, John married Celaine Harrington. She taught him the musical
scales on the piano and with that he began to set his poetry to music. John recorded
his first song, "The Puckerbrush" and it was a statewide success. Since then
he has recorded many of his songs.
John J was inducted into the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame September 7th, 1996 at the
Saginaw County Fairgrounds in Saginaw, Michigan.
