JOE HAMMOCK


Joe Hammock was born April 25, 1927 in Moultrie, Georgia. He came to Michigan in 1953 where he worked for General Motors. In 1956 he opened a radio show on WMRP called "The Big Joe Show". In 1963 Joe joined Kenny Roberts on Channel 5 TV on the "Saturday Night Jamboree". His musical career was brought to an end in 1971 when he was stricken with a severe heart attack.

In 1973, Joe was selected to become a member of the Michigan Country Music Hall of Fame. He considered this the biggest honor of his life.
