On the cover: International labor leaders join strikers, politicians,
members of the clergy and other supporters in a peaceful sit-down at The
Detroit News on Aug. 30, 1996, the beginning of Labor Day weekend. Many
of these strikers were fired for what the newspapers termed "egregious"
behavior shown in this picture.
