THAILAND
I first dived in Thailand in 1987 on Ko Hi island near Phuket,
managed to perforate
my left ear too ! Not exactly a good start to diving this part of the
world, but that's life I guess.
I have returned several times to dive around Phuket, and have always
been slightly disappointed, maybe I have been too spoilt with having
the Red Sea on my doorstep for so long. Of course the operators here
also influence on how good the diving can be. During the past few years
I have made my dive trips alone and therefore do not have much choice
when it comes to dive buddies, although when the opportunity arises I
do dive solo, better than having problems with some idiot with whom
I do not know as I experienced with DIVE ASIA back in November 1996
when my buddy (who was an instructor) stirred up so much crap that
made photography difficult, then he ran our of air after 40 minutes !
If you are going to dive here I can recommend FANTASEA and SCUBACAT.
