Hello! I am a student at Oakland University. Winter 1999 semester, I have taken AN 102, Introduction to Cultural Anthropology. Part of the course is a project; I chose to study the differences between what men and women expect from each other in relationships, specifically marriages. Hopefully, I will get enough information from the data collected with these surveys that I can give some explanation as to why we struggle to understand our partners.

You don't have to be married to take this survey. As you can see, there is a survey for single/engaged, married, and divorced/seperated people. All will ask for the same basic information, with slight variations on how it's asked for and some additional information specific to each circumstance. I don't place any restrictions on these surveys, but I would really like if you:

If you don't like my surveys, say so. If you do, say so. If you want a copy of the results, or the report itself, let me know, and I can arrange it. You should know that if you take the survey, you will be COMPLETELY anonymous, and I'll destroy the distribution lists once the class is complete.

In any case, thanks for at least visiting this page and giving me a chance. I appreciate all the help I can get. The report these surveys are intended to produce data for is due March 31, so the quickest response you can give me is especially appreciated.

Sincerely,

Lincoln M. Simoni

  1. Thanks to all those who completed prepatory surveys. I couldn't have possibly come up with all the choices on the mail surveys without you.
  2. Thanks to all those web pages who contributed (knowingly or otherwise) to some of my control data:
