Nintendo has gotten into one strange promotion indeed. General Mills and Nintendo have teamed up to sell kids packages of Fruit By The Foot (you know, the long, flat strips of smashed fruit that kids love to eat) with characters from popular Nintendo games on them. Six flavors of Fruit By The Foot will feature characters. You can find Yoshi kickin' it on Strawberry and Cherry; Color By The Foot and Watermelon will sport some Mario Kart 64 art; and Tie-Dye and Flavor Wave will feature that wacky duo, Banjo and Kazooie. On the back of the paper that the fruit rests upon (if you've seen it, you understand), there are over 30 different tips for the games featuring the characters on the box.

To kick off 1999, we're thrilled to team with General Mills for this 'sweet' promotion, said Peter Main, Nintendo's executive vice president, marketing and sales. Joining with one of the leading snack food providers to offer Nintendo game tips to fans is a natural partnership. Kids can enjoy their favorite treat and get hot tips for some of the most popular Nintendo 64 games.

Now if Nintendo would only sign one more partnership with Labatts, we would be in heaven. Look for Fruit By The Foot and your favorite Nintendo stars across America. The promotion, which starts January 25th, is set to last until May 31st.
