Twentieth Century Fox has announced that it will release the Wing Commander movie, based on the hit PC and console series, to theaters on March 12. Following the tales of rookie cat-smacker Christopher Blair, played by Freddie Prinze, Jr., Wing Commander is the latest in attempts to bring video games to the big screen. Of especial interest is that Chris Roberts, the creator of the Wing Commander series, is directing the movie. This is to be his first feature film.
"We are thrilled to announce our plans for a wide release of Wing Commander on March 12," said Tom Sherak, chairman of Twentieth Domestic Film Group. "The film has all the elements of a fun experience, an exciting cast, big special effects, and lots of science fiction action."
Todd Moyer, producer of the film, had this to say: "We enjoyed great freedom making this movie, and I'm thrilled that Fox is taking on the film and releasing it in March."
Other major actors in the movie include Matthew Lillard, of Scream fame, and Saffron Burrows, who starred in Circle of Friends. Wing Commander will be rated PG-13. For more information on the movie, check out the link below to the official site.
