We continually called 989 Studios to find out why exactly Shoot Out '99 was canceled and were continually denied an answer, hindering our efforts to deliver the truth about this once exceptional franchise. Finally, we received a brief letter with a statement from 989 regarding the cancellation that said, "Due to technical issues associated with NBA Shoot Out '99, and the shortened 1998/1999 season, 989 Sports recently announced the cancellation of NBA Shoot Out '99."

We're not sure exactly what the shortened season has to do with it, and we assume that when 989 says, "technical issues" it means it wasn't that pleased with the game. We asked 989 to elaborate on the statement it issued, but it declined. Look for Shoot Out 2000 sometime next season (hopefully).
