Sega Enterprises Ltd. plans to sell over 4 million Dreamcast machines by the end of March 2000 according to Nikkei Weekly. The goal, made public by Sega executive vice president Sadahiko Hirose, was announced February 1 at the unveiling of the new Pulse game, UnderCover.
Hirose commented that 500,000 Dreamcasts were sold by the end of December and current sales projections are at the 1 million mark for the end of March. Hirose also states that by June, when UnderCover releases, there will have been 2 million DC units sold in Japan. It was a concern that Sega would be unable to fill orders due to problems with the system's production, but it has since been able to take control of the situation and create a steady flow of game systems.
