Sony Computer Entertainment America sent out a press release proclaiming all that is great about being the producers of the PlayStation. With over 17 million PlayStations sold in North America and a record-breaking holiday season of over 4 million systems sold, Sony seems justified in having all the bragging rights in the world.
The press release began by listing the particulars of Sony's dominance. According to TRSTS data, 18.1 million software units were sold in the month of November. In fact, 65.2% of all software sold last year was for the PlayStation, and gamers bought seven games for every PlayStation.
But there's more bragging to be done. Of the 50 top-selling software titles in North America, GoldenEye is #1, but 32 of the top 50 games are PlayStation games.
There are some other things, but most of it is just the same old boasting you see above. There is one little factoid left that is pretty interesting: over 50 million PlayStations have been shipped worldwide. Now that's a lotta PlayStation!
