Psygnosis Dumps a Load on Rollcage

Psygnosis is getting ready to release its new hi-octane racer, Rollcage, in a big way. The PlayStation title will be available at the end of March, but by the time it hits the shelves, $2.3 million will have been spent on advertising, a pre-order promotion, and an in-store time trial contest.

The North American ad campaign will include TV commercial spots in April and May, backed by numerous national magazine ads and a wide scale demo distribution. Those who pre-order Rollcage through Funcoland, Babbages, Software Etc., or Electronics Boutique will receive a Rollcage Soundtrack CD, featuring 14 drum-n-bass tunes from Fatboy Slim and other oxymorons.

Most interesting of all, however, is the Rollcage Time Trial Competition that will be held at a currently undisclosed video game rental partner. Players will race around the track, then get a coded time result which will be sent to, and decoded by, Psygnosis. Winners will be selected by their fastest times, with the best driver receiving a Sony Home Entertainment System. Not bad for having a quick race, huh?
