Power Stone Gets Full Release In Arcades

Formerly in test market limbo, it looks like Power Stone has made the cut and will be seen in arcades nationwide by early March, with a Dreamcast version in the works. Capcom has high hopes for its new fighter, as it's the first to use Sega's super-charged (yet inexpensive) Naomi board. Success with Power Stone could mean more arcade action from Capcom and the Naomi in the future.

Power Stone has its eight all-new, all-mysterious characters face off in an interactive 3D environment, battling to collect Power Stones. Once a player has three Stones, rather than go to the bathroom to pass them, they are transformed into a super being who can execute powerful moves at the touch of a button.

The fully interactive backgrounds in Power Stone allow players to use almost anything as a weapon. Characters can grab a light post, pick up a barrel, or run up a wall to execute a high-powered attack.

"Power Stone is truly a work of art," says Steve Blattspieler, vice president of sales and marketing for Capcom Coin-op. "This title surpasses any fighting game with exceptional graphics and distinctive gameplay. With its revolutionary features, Power Stone will challenge all levels of players and force other game developers to rethink how fighting games are designed. Expectations are high for our first generation of Naomi titles, and Power Stone delivers!"
