Nexus Telocation Systems Ltd. has signed an agreement with Nintendo Company Ltd. to go forward on the design of a software modem. The technology resulting, however, will apparently be used for applications mainly in Japan. Low energy wireless communication is Nexus' thing, and interestingly enough, the press release states that Nexus could see royalty checks as soon as later this year.

Say What? What does Nintendo have up its sleeve? Is this software modem for the Nintendo 64, or is it for another system? The Nintendo 64 was not mentioned once during the press release, so it is possible that recent speculation on a new Nintendo system may not be far off the mark.
