Lode Runner loves gold. He loves it so much, he's been stealing it from mad monks that live underground since 1983 on just about every computer and console system since the Apple II. For a time, it seemed he had finally retired due to hernias caused by lugging around dense metals all day. Ah, but you can't keep a good thing down. Infogrames has picked up Lode Runner 64 from Big Bang Software and renamed it Lode Runner 3-D.
To be released this spring for Nintendo 64, Lode Runner 3-D takes the gold grubber through five three dimensional worlds with automatic camera control in three dimensional stereo sound (no idea what that means). Players guide Lode Runner through 100 action-oriented puzzle levels, using drills, cable disks, plasma launchers, and anything else they can get their hands on, to make it to Pandora and the secluded Emperor's realm.
From Commodore 64 to Nintendo 64, Lode Runner has always been a solid title. Here's hoping the trend continues. Run on, Lode Runner, run on.
