01.29.99
That headline is no lie. As part of its Fighters Edge promotion, Capcom is willing to give a free game to those who buy two Fighters Edge games between February 1st and April 30th, 1999. In fact, Capcom even lowered the prices on a couple games to make getting a freebie easier. Rival Schools now goes for $29.95 and Darkstalkers 3 is $19.95
Here are the details. First step, purchase two of the following games: Darkstalkers 3, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Pocket Fighter, Rival Schools, Street Fighter Alpha 3, Street Fighter Collection 2, Street Fighter EX, and/or X-men vs. Street Fighter. Then, complete the Fighters Edge coupon that came with one of the games and send it in with the receipt, the proofs of purchase, and five bucks for shipping. All right, so it isn't entirely free, but c'mon, it's only five dollars ya miserly chump.
The games you can choose to receive for free are Breath of Fire III, Buster Brothers, Darkstalkers, Darkstalkers 3, Marvel Super Heroes, Resident Evil: Director's Cut, Star Gladiator, Street Fighter Alpha, Street Fighter Alpha 2, Street Fighter Collection, Street Fighter Collection 2, Street Fighter EX, Super Puzzle Fighter, or X-men vs. Street Fighter.
And that's not all! Those who get in on the action by March 15th will earn 20 bonus Fighters Edge Points, which are redeemable for a wide variety of stuff ranging from baseball hats to mountain bikes, the latter of which will cost you way more the 20 points, but there's no time like the present to start saving.
