Classic Gaming Convention Is Returning

01.29.99
Last year in Las Vegas, the first annual Classic Video and Computer Game Show was a hit, drawing media attention worldwide. Now, the show is returning to Las Vegas, with more gaming nostalgia than before. On August 14th and 15th (a Saturday and Sunday), Classic Gaming Expo '99 will descend upon Vegas and feature a living video game museum.

"We're turning the exhibition areas of Jackie Gaughan's Plaza Hotel into a living video game museum -- spotlighting an era that spawned a mammoth video game industry," said Mr. Keita Iida, organizer of last year's World of Atari event, as well as this year's Classic Gaming Expo '99. "Classic Gaming Expo honors the catalysts for many of Silicon Valley's historic corporate and personal success stories."

The gaming museum will feature such relics as mint-condition restorations of old Atari, Magnavox, Coleco, Mattel, Apple, and Midway products. Game competitions, old displays, and more will all be a part of the two days of fun. Among those planning to attend are Ralph Baer, inventor of the Odyssey; Steven Cartwright, creator of 2600 hits Barnstorming and Megamania; Arnie Katz, Bill Kunkel, and Joyce Worley, co-founders of Electronic Games Magazine, and more.

So it seems that this niche in gaming is beginning to turn some heads. Mark your calendars, classic gaming fans, and head out to the Classic Gaming Expo, in Las Vegas, NV, on August 14 and 15.
