Yes, the Pokemon invasion continues. Now, the little critters want to invade
another niche market, the CCG (collectable card game) market. Introducing the
Pokemon trading card game from Wizards of the Coast, available at finer hobby and
toy stores everywhere, beginning January 9. The cards can be purchased in full
two-player battle sets, pre-made theme decks, and small booster packs that will
enhance your deck. As with all CCGs, there are some common and some not so common
cards in every pack. Some of the cards are considered ultra-rare, and are
holographic.
This is truly an ideal match, said Rick Arons, senior vice president at WOTC.
Wizards of the Coast is the world's leading trading card game manufacturer,
Nintendo is the world's foremost creator of interactive entertainment, and Pokemon
is clearly the number one kids' entertainment phenomenon in both countries (Japan
and America).
Look for the Pokemon Trading card game all over the place. It'll be everywhere,
with two-player starter kits retailing for the miserly sum of $7.99
