989 Studios has named a new studio for its advertising account. Butler, Shine & Stern, famous for creating ads for Border Books & Music, Millers Outpost, Seagram Wines, and more, will present a strategic advertising plan to 989 Studios with a budget of $15 million for 1999. 989 Studios used Sony's ad agency, TBWA/Chiat Day, through most of 1998 during the transitional period of gaining independence from Sony Computer Entertainment America.

"Our selection of Butler, Shine, & Stern reflects our belief that effective and innovative advertising can communicate the leading-edge technology that will continue to differentiate 989 Studios' video games from other software companies," said Jeffrey Fox, vice president of marketing for 989 Studios. "Butler, Shine & Stern is a very well respected, highly creative shop that demonstrated to us that they understand our business. We look forward to helping them achieve our goals."
