My daughter Jamie purchased Flower from the Kast family in May
of '95. She fell in love with her at the Caprine Classic where she was being
shown as a yearling milker. With some time the Kast's needed to reduce their
herd size and offered Flower to Jamie. She jumped at the chance and we bought her.
Flower was only 1 leg from a permanent Champion status. Jamie and Flower instantly
hit it off and they were an excellent team in showmanship. Trophy after trophy
mounted up! January 29th 1998 Flower began to suffer "mini" strokes. Her and
the unborn kids were in danger. Jamie, mom, dad, Mary Madsen and the Vet all
took her to the clinic where a c-section was performed. All looked well. Triplets!!!!
Wow!!!! 2 doelings and 1 buckling, and Flower was still doing well. Everyone
went home including mom and kids and then 4 days later she suffered the final
stroke that would take her life. I slept with Flower that night as her temp. dropped
rapidly and she slipped into a coma. At 6:04 a.m. the next morning Flower passed
away as her kids played unknowingly beside her. She too is buried in a "special
spot" on our farm. MAY YOU REST IN PEACE and may my tears wash away my sorrow.
Northern-Dreams Sweet Lil' Toots
We never had a chance to get a picture of you sweety but we still remember
the beautiful two-tone chamoisee that you were. Weighing only 3 1/2 lbs at birth
you hardley had a chance, but you gave it your all. The vet said your digestive "juices"
just hadn't kicked in yet. We did our best with tubing, meds, and love. It was not your fault
that your mama gave birth too early. Your little nuzzles on our cheeks felt as if we had
been touched by an angel and all those nights keeping you warm in bed with us will never be forgot.

<----RAMBO, Bob's favorite cat who was always
in the barn at chore time, and who loved to go rabbit hunting with us! He was better than a beagle.
Cancer took him from us and he is missed everyday.
I rescued Babe from the Ravanna sale barn and the meat buyers about 9 years ago. She could
barely walk do to starvation and had a foal at her side. Within days of having her home she
improved rapidly and turned out to be more highly trained in dressage than i was! I LOVED
this little mare. Her weight started dropping rapidly around christmas and the vet said
she didn't have any teeth left . Easter week ('99)she became so weak she
couldn't get up on her own. All the special feed in the world was not helping this
lovely girl. She looked up at me and her soul touched mine with such warmth. I kissed her
muzzle and told her to look for the angels and at that moment the vet put her down. She lived
out those last years a happy , healthy mare and got the burial she so deserved. She is now
at rest on the ridge on our farm where she used to watch the deer.
She was estimated to be around 30 years of age...

We recieved an award for this page! Thank you Mr.Mingo for acknowledging our sorrow and
effort we put forth to salute these loved ones on this page.
