"What would you say if I sang out of tune would you stand up and walk out on me?
Lend me your ear and I'll sing you a song and I'll try not to sing out of key.
Oh, I get by with a little help from my friends."
John Lennon/Paul McCartney

A Little Help From My Friends
Joe Cocker's Version

A Little Help From My Friends
Joe Cocker ~ Real Audio

I grew up in the 60s... graduating from high school in 1970. The first album I ever bought was "The Best of the Monkees" in the winter of '69. Being a true afficiando of bubblegum music, I loved the Monkees -- heck, I still do. I used to watch them every Wednesday night after band practice. Going out and actually buying an album was a big step for me. I have two older sisters, and for some reason that always seemed like their terrain. They were the ones who rocked and rolled in the dining room...slipping and sliding in their stocking feet on the slick, hardwood floor. Buying that album was more exciting, at least to me, than purchasing my first lipstick or pair of pantyhose. However, the album had a flaw in it, so when it hit the middle of The Last Train To Clarkville it started skkkkkkkkkkkkiping -- that train never did reach its destination.

I'd rush out to K Mart to return the album and purchase another copy and then fly home, tear the plastic off of the record, stick it on my sister's stereo, and be disappointed over and over again. Somewhere between the third and fourth return of that album, I heard the Joe Cocker version of A Little Help from my Friends on WLS out of Chicago. I traded that flawed album in and fell in love with rock music.

Following are music quotes by people across the centuries and the genres -- all of whom who have one thing in common: A love of music.

~ Bungled Lyrics~

Purple haze running in my brain....'scuse me while I kiss this guy. This is a great site! It contains an archive of almost 2000 "misheard" lyrics. I don't know about you, but I've been bungling lyrics for years. As far as I'm concerned, some of my lyrics are better than the originals!

All we are saying is give pizza chance.....
