Well, this was my first "real" r/c car. I bought it for $65 from Sheldon's Hobbies in San Jose. It took about 4 hours to build the chassis, which is pretty easy to build. I just needed a few screwdrivers to complete the chassis; everything else was included with the kit. After I was finished with the chassis, it was time to paint the body. First, I washed the inside well with detergent, then let it dry for a half-hour. Then I put the window masks on, being careful not the put fingerprints on the body. I used Pactra Racing Finish paint for this body, like all my other bodies. For this body, I used candy blue backed by indy silver, which gives a nicer blue color than the regular "metallic blue" paint can. Well that was it, pretty simple.

I have had a lot of fun with this car all the time. It is not very fast compared to the more expensive cars, but it is a really good car for people that are just getting into this. It was plenty fast for me for a long time. What the car lacks in speed, it makes up in reliability and durability. My friends' cars would always break or need adjustments, but my TLO1 would run without any maintenance or repair. This is a great car for a person entering the hobby of R/C cars, but eventually you will want to upgrade to a faster, more high performance car.

The 3-step F/R mechanical speed control is a good, reliable unit.
