Mike has been leading some outstanding jazz groups at
Epicure Wine Bar/Jazz Club in West Bridgewater, MA recently
with some premier musicians such as George Garzone, Gary Valente,
Jeff Galindo, David Zinno, Joe Casano, Linda Calise, Rusty Hughes,
Nina Ott, Chris Lopes and Tom Appleman. More gigs are booked for 2017!

Mike continues to deliver his signature brand of playeristic neo soul with his
upcoming single My Key C "We Got This" featuring Ben Albert and Grover.

Pete Levesque - Wander
Mike is on the new recording Wander by saxophonist Pete Levesque.
The album features a stellar cast of musicians including Tim Ray,
Tucker Antell, Dave Zinno and Simon Moullier. The band celebrated
the release of the CD at a March 3 performance at Ryles Jazz Club.


Mike plays drums on 2 tracks from the new neo-soul EP Happy To Be Loving You by vocalist Linda Calise
Mike also played on Linda's album La Vie/My Life, which was on the Grammy ballot in 2015 in 4 categories!

Mike was featured in the January 2014 issue of DRUM!

Mike and his father, trumpeter Joe Casano, started Mike & Joe's Big Band in 2014!
The band is a 15 piece group filled with incredible top local jazz musicians
playing jazz/funk/latin charts from the books of Buddy Rich, Bob Mintzer,
Thad Jones & Mel Lewis, Horace Silver, Gil Evans and others!

Mike has been working with Grover (best known for his raps on the Howard Stern Show)
and his band Grover & CGI. The band wrote the new theme of the "Planet Mikey" show on
WEEI sports radio in New England, as well as the theme for the Ronnie Mund Block Party
(Howard Stern Show) which was played at events all over the country. They were
also featured twice on the Howard Stern News on Sirius/XM (click here to hear one!)
Grover and the band are currently hard at work on new material, including an original
song called "Dead Silence" and another track that will also feature rapper Slaine.

Mike wrote and released "Play That Game" in 2011 under the artist name My Key C.
The song can be described as a playeristic neo-soul/hip-hop track. It features Ben Albert,
Grover and Patresha Gayle on vocals, with Mike's father, Joe Casano, on trumpet and Billy
Thompson on guitar. The song was recorded at New Gravity Studios by Dave Kennedy.

(Bruce Springsteen), Tim Ray (Bonnie Raitt), Bill Miele (Greg Abate), and Mike Casano

MIKE CASANO BIO



Mike Casano is a drummer, producer, writer and educator from the Boston, MA
area. Growing up the son of a professional trumpet player (Joe Casano) in a
town with a very strong music program (East Bridgewater), Mike was heavily
inspired by all kinds of great music early on, including his two favorite
artists Stevie Wonder and Mike Stern. Mike attended Berklee College of Music
from 1996-2000, studying and playing with some unbelievably great teachers and
fellow students. He graduated with a B.A. Degree in Drum Set Performance.

Mike’s versatile style and reliable groove allows him to work as a professional
drummer in a wide range of musical styles and situations. Mike has performed
with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame R&B/soul group The Drifters, playing drums on
their 2005 live album Charlie Thomas’ Drifters Live! He has also played with
R&B great Ellis Hall, jazz legend George Garzone, and the renowned John
Allmark Jazz Orchestra (featuring alumni from the Buddy Rich Band).



Mike has been co-leading Mike & Joe’s Big Band, a 15 piece group of top local
jazz musicians, with his father Joe since May 2014. Mike also plays with
rapper Grover and his band Grover & CGI, writing original songs and producing
numerous videos. The band was featured on the Howard Stern news for
writing the theme song for the “Ronnie Mund Block Party”. They also wrote the
theme for the “Planet Mikey Show” on sports radio WEEI in Boston.

Mike has been featured in DRUM! Magazine (January 2014), and he has
also had articles published in Modern Drummer Magazine (July 2014).



Mike can be found playing live often with bands such as GQ & The Lady,
Brass Force, Myanna, Ken Clark Organ Trio and the New England Philharmonic.
Mike also has experience playing for numerous musical theater productions in
and around the Boston area, including New Repertory Theater’s Dessa Rose
in 2008 featuring Uzo Aduba (Orange Is The New Black).

Mike writes and produces original music, including his upcoming release
"We Got This" & 2011's “Play That Game”, both under the artist name My Key C.
He has also written and arranged music for many performances with his own
jazz/fusion projects featuring players like George Garzone, Phil Grenadier and Jeff Galindo.



Mike plays regularly at all of the major venues for live music in the New England
area including Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, Beantown Jazz Festival, Hampton
Beach, Majestic Theatre, Lowell Summer Music Series, Regattabar, Scullers,
Ryles and Patriot Place to name a few. Mike’s drums have also taken him to New
York City to perform, as well as Atlanta, GA. He has played live on radio and
television in Boston with saxophonist Myanna on WGBH's “Eric In The Evening”
radio program and WBZ channel 4's "Liz Walker Show".



In addition to live performances, Mike has done numerous studio recordings,
including the album La Vie/My Life by vocalist Linda Calise that appeared on the
2015 Grammy ballot in four categories. Other recent recordings include
Pete Levesque (Wander), Metro West Thump (Pop Bop), Scott Tarulli (Anytime,
Anywhere
), Christine Fawson (My Side), Katrin (Soul Wide Open), Jen Murdza
(Good Little Worker Bees), and Alison Keslow (Bass Dharma). Mike also
records drums for songwriter Paula Morin’s Cool Crow publishing company.



Mike has been teaching drums and percussion for over 16 years. He teaches
students of all ages and levels, covering all styles of music on drum set, snare
drum, mallet percussion, tympani, hand percussion and music theory. He
plays annually for the Berklee College of Music Guitar Sessions Week and Victor
Wooten bass camp. He has also conducted clinics, master classes and
ensembles for the high school jazz bands in Westwood and Easton, MA.
Mike has been endorsing Soultone cymbals since 2011.
