2005-06 Charlotte 49ers Roster

If you were looking for my old Kentucky Wildcats page, it's been torn down. I started attending UNC Charlotte in 2003. The first game I went to was against Louisville (There's something UK fans and UNCC fans have in common, a hatred for the Cardinals) in February, 2004. The picture at the top of the page is of the students celebrating on the court after we beat Louisville. I'm somewhere in that mess. After that game, I was a UNCC fan. You can find me occasionally on ninernation.net as Charlotte9er1980.
In 2003-04, we had a good season, going 21-9 (12-4 in Conference USA), and we went into the NCAA Tournament. Although we lost 76-73 to a typically good Bobby Knight-led team in Texas Tech.

Things were looking really good for the 49ers in '04-'05. Before facing off against Louisville, we were 21-4 and coming off wins against Cincinnati at Halton Arena 92-91 and Memphis. After Louisville beat us in Freedom Hall, our season went downhill, losing to South Florida, Memphis in the CUSA tourney, and N.C. State in the first round of the NCAAs.

We lost two key players in Eddie Basden and Brendan Plavich, but we got D'Angelo Alexander, Marcus Bennett, and Jerrell Lewis this year. Plus, we also have a few new juco's in Antwon Coleman and Courtney Williams. So far, we're 17-9 (10-3 in the Atlantic 10) going into our Senior Night game against the Saint Louis Billikens. With a little work (and a little luck), the Niners can make another bid in the NCAA tournament. GO NINERS!!!!
