Manic Depression has captured my soul...

He who binds to himself a joy
Does the winged life destroy
But he who kisses a joy as it flies
Lives in eternity's sunrise
- William Blake

IT'S JUST YOUR SOUL AT STAKE!!!

HEAR THE CRIES OF OTHER LOST SOULS

Immortalized forever in the words of Jimi Hendrix, Manic Depression does essentially that... an affliction of the mind, perhaps, but in many ways an imprisoner of souls to a tireless and often tiresome existence.

Manic Depression has touched the lives of many, including the greatest artists of all time from poets to musicians to painters and other artists. It's condition can be clearly seen through the visions and words of many great manics of all ages. People like Blake, Poe, Van Gogh, Hendrix... this list goes on and on (conditions of many such artists are still speculative even to present day. In other words, don't hold me to it!).

Despair not, however, for there is hope for all of us with such an affliction and many like conditions from a mere melancholy distemper to schizophrenia, etc. Clearly those just mentioned and others not yet spoken of have overcome or at least endured this condition and, in fact, channeled it to create masterpeices in their own right, it's not altogether a bad hand in life.

It has long been suspected that manic depression, that "Divine Madness", is directly related with a higher power of creativity and artistic genius. Manic phases induce extreme levels of creative inspiration and heightened mental activity, while depressive phases also provide a melancholic temperament which can help inspire great insight and wisdom with deeper, albeit combersome, conceptions.

This is not your typical manic-depression FAQ site. This site is dedicated to a new level of understanding and realization for all those who "walk the travail of pain." Although looked at most commonly as a horrible "disease", such conditions are in other ways an exceptional gift. And if you search yourself long enough, you may come to find that you can actually better control your condition as you acheive a higher level of awareness or consciousness in life.

We encourage an integrated approach to these conditions as a whole in its many aspects: mental, spiritual, and physical.

Why did I make such a website you might ask? Well...as my grandmother used to say "I'm half crazy and a little nuts!"

First: Let's get to some basic info on manic-depression and related conditions.... We'll be using the standard psychiatric criteria and their basic definitions which, despite their often shallow explanations, serve us well in the biological aspect anyway :)         Next >>
