Captain Robert A. Schelling, USN (Ret.), was the commanding officer of USS Swenson during the Inchon Landing. SWENSON was one of the six destroyers whose well-chronicled exploits earned them the "Sitting Ducks" sobriquet. Commander Schelling was awarded the Silver Star for his actions prior to and during the Inchon Landing assault. Captain Schelling is one of the two living "Sitting Ducks" skippers. The "Sitting Ducks" destroyers, operating as Task Element 90.62, were awarded the Navy Unit Commendation. Captain Schelling passed away in Seattle, Washington on February 14, 2003.
